The transit method detects planets by measuring the tiny dip in a star's brightness when a planet crosses in front of it. From the dip depth, we calculate the planet's radius. From the spacing between dips, we get the orbital period. Kepler's third law gives us the distance. With the star's luminosity, we compute the equilibrium temperature and check if the planet is in the habitable zone.
